Della Bowman, 98, of Scribner, formerly of West Point, NE, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Scribner. Della was born September 11, 1912, to Herman and Bertha Prawitz, who lived on a farm in Neligh County until 1926, when the family moved to West Point. She attended high school in West Point, finishing the 11th grade. She was the seventh child of ten born to Herman and Bertha, all of whom preceded her in death. Della married Frank White in 1929. Survivors from their marriage are Neva(Philip) Hefner of Chicago and Robert (Sandra) White of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Sarah Rowand, Martha Hefner and Julia Hefner; and five great-granddaughters, Emily, Kayla, and Chelsea Rowand and Rory and Adeline Hefner-Templar. Frank died in 1965. In July, 1979, Della married Glen Bowman. They were married for almost ten years until Glen*s death in 1989. This gave Della an extended family. Survivors include: Merlin (Ruth) Bowman, Terry (Terri) Bowman, Roger (Jo) Bowman, Dean (deceased) and wife, LaVonna Bowman, Sue Ann Batenhorst and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Della and Glen especially enjoyed dancing and dining out in West Point and the surrounding area. Della was an active long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. She participated in one of the Women*s Circles and helped with Bible School. She also was a member of two different women*s card groups, until poor eye sight curtailed her participation. She enjoyed baking for these groups, various church gatherings and for the holidays. After the death of Frank, Della worked for Wimmer*s Meat Products for a number of years, until her retirement. Della enjoyed traveling in Nebraska and neighboring states and after Frank*s death, she continued traveling, including a trip to Hamburg, Germany and to Cambridge, England to visit her daughter and family.
