Deane Elizabeth Voelker, 86, of West Point, died April 20, 2005 at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Trinity Church in West Point with Reverend John Gradwohl officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 pm. Monday at the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:30 pm. Sunday, with family receiving friends 3:00 pm. until 5:00 pm. with American Legion Auxiliary Rites at 5:00, all at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Church. On line condolences may be left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Deane was born October 27, 1918 at Stanton to Leonard E. and Grace M Whalen Wood. She grew up on a farm in Stanton County, attended country grade school, and was a 1936 graduate of Stanton High School. On April 6, 1937 she married Martin “Mike” Voelker at Stanton. The couple lived at Stanton until moving to West Point in 1943 where Deane worked for the County Assessor and as Deputy Clerk of the District Court, retiring in 1987. Deane was a member of Trinity Church and Guild, West Point woman’s Civic Club, and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, crafts and gardening. Survivors include a daughter Paula (Larry) French, son Mike (Mary) Voelker both of West Point, sisters Dora Krog of Glendale, AZ, LaVern Denney of Stanton, grandchildren Gene French, Deena Knobbe, Robert, Ryan and Tina Voelker, great grandchildren Benjamin French, Robert, Michael and Morgan Knobbe, Madison and Gavin Voelker, Wyatt, Lexus and Mercedes Voelker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in August of 1989 and a brother Eugene. Stokely Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
