David L. Welding, age 74, of West Point, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point. Private family services will be held at a later date, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery in West Point.

Dave was born on December 19, 1947 to Lloyd and Arline (Baumert) Welding in West Point. He grew up in West Point and graduated from West Point Public High School in 1966 and soon after, joined his parents in the family excavating and bridge construction business. In June of 1967, Dave married Karen Randel. They had three children: Lori, Tom, and Jeff. Dave became the sole owner/operator of Welding Construction Company in 1987, retiring in 2016. In 2001, he purchased Mayberry’s Pub. On September 16, 2003, Dave married Vickie Schlecht-Breitkreutz and they continued to run Mayberry’s together until their retirement in 2021.

Besides spending time with family and visiting with friends at Mayberry’s, Dave loved everything outdoors and being “down at the river”. He went on many hunting and fishing trip though out the years. He especially loved duck hunting with his buddies, and in more recent years, his multiple trips to the Stapleton area to go prairie dog hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson Cruz Spenner.
