Daryl Monroe, 57, of Rosalie, NE died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft with Reverend Paul Ortmeier as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm Friday with Public Wake Service at 7:30 pm Friday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point which is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established. Daryl Ray Monroe was born May 29, 1955 in Alliance, NE to Mark and Emma (Lonewolf) Monroe. He grew up in Alliance and was a 1974 graduate of Alliance High School. On September 18, 1987, Daryl married Tammy Pier in Fort Collins, CO. The couple settled in Rosalie, NE where Daryl worked for the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department and the Winnebago Police Department, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft and a devoted husband and father. Daryl is survived by his wife, Tammy, of Rosalie; daughters April (Jason) Durheim of Prineville, OR, Tasha Monroe of Austin, TX and Jaime Monroe of Rosalie; sons Mark (Kim) Monroe of Prineville, OR, Eli Monroe of Colorado Springs, CO, Shawn Monroe of Rosalie, Joel Monroe of Bancroft, Jesse Monroe of Rosalie; 14 grandchildren; and sister Connie (Gary) Stairs of Alliance, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Terry Monroe and sisters Candy Monroe and Hope Baker.
