Conrad Langhorst, 72, of West Point died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Wake service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Guardian Angels or St. Mary’s Endowments. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 4:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the church starting at 6:00 pm. Conrad was born February 14, 1937 at Dodge to Frank and Catherine Kaup Langhorst. He grew up on the farm attended Sacred Heart Academy at Olean and was a 1955 graduate of Dodge High School. From 1955 to 1957 he served in the US Army, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. On June 27, 1959 he married Arlene Heimann at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. The couple lived in West Point where Coonie worked for Hill Hatchery, Grain States Soya, Grain States, Inc. and for over 35 years at Northeast Co-op, where he owned his own truck. He gave his customers Tootsie Pops and became known by many as the “sucker man”. Coonie also farmed and raised livestock. He retired in 2000. Conrad was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and West Point Sportsman Club. He served on the Sherman Township board. He enjoyed working, helping out on the farm, socializing over coffee and cards and Ag related activities. Conrad loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of West Point, daughters Jean (Pat) Meiergerd, Susan (Bruce) Wolff, Pamela (Roger) Danielski and Joy (Karey) Rahn all of West Point, sisters Justina Miller of Dodge, Irene (Albert) Guenther of West Point and Mary Ann (Jack ) Lennemann of Snyder, brothers Leonard (Mary) Langhorst of Beemer and William ( Pat Rademaker) Langhorst of Dodge, grandchildren Jason (Dana) Nathan and Joshua Meiergerd, Jessica, Melissa and Christa Wolff, Derek (Katie) and Staci Danielski, Jaden and Sadie Rahn, great grandchildren Grace, Lillian, and Sylvia Meiergerd. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul and brother in law Robert Miller.
