Charles “Bud” Wagner, 85, of West Point, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Chris Meier. Visitation 9:00 am. to 8:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home with family receiving friends 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Charles was Born January 27, 1926 at West Point to Henry and Barbara (Woerner) Wagner. He grew up in West Point and graduated from West Point High School in 1945. On September 25, 1947 he married Evelyn Poppe at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Charles worked at the West Point Hotel, as a city policeman and a projectionist at the local movie theater before retiring after 30 years as a parts man for Stigge Automotive. Charles was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and active on the church council and as an usher. He was also a member of the Isaac Walton League, and served on the West Point City Council where Charles was a supporter of the park and the dike. Charles was the 1st King of West Point’s Oktoberfest. He enjoyed gardening and selling his produce and trapping. Charles was a coin and stamp collector, refinished furniture and worked many puzzles. Charles’ greatest concern was for the well being of his family. Survivors include daughters Barbara (Michael) Herring of Fremont, Laura Wagner (Jim Cox) of West Point and Carol (Jon) Cerny of Bancroft, sons Kim (Kathy) and Steven of West Point, grand children Jeffrey Jennifer) Eliason, Karen (Scott) Klein, Craig Wagner (Keyne Rolnce), Aaron (Rachel) Wagner, Chris (Kristin) Wagner, Alex Wagner, Lnc. Cpl. Tim Wagner, Sara Schnepf (Kyle Gentrup), Jessi and BethCerny, great grand children Colin, Cora, Olivia, Emma, Kiara, Dylyn, and Ethan. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn in 2004, brothers Edward “Cagle” and Henry “Duke” Wagner, an infant son Robert in 1958 and his parents.
