Charles V. Throener, Sr., 95, of Dodge, died December 10, 2005 at the West Point Living Center in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Dennis Deguzman as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 am. until 7:30 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in Dodge with Public Wake Services at 7:00 pm. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Charles was born August 22, 1910 at Monterey to Karl and Elizabeth Ermels Throener and attended St. Boniface Catholic School. On February 10, 1942he married Clara Krienert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Osmond. The couple farmed near Osmond until 1949 when the moved to the farm at Dodge. They stayed on the farm until 2002 when the moved to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community in West Point, then to the West Point Living Center in 2004. Charles was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. He was known for his gentle spirit and mild manner. Survivors include his wife, Clara, daughters Sister Patricia Throener of Petersburg and Mary (Larry) Auen of Sioux City, Iowa, sons Joseph (Connie) of Norfolk and Chuck (Carolyn) of Dodge, grandchildren Thomas Auen, Regina Neuhalfen, Valerie Adams, Brian, Melanie and Michael Throener, great grandchildren Madison and Cole Neuhalfen, Carter and Ashlynn Throener and Abigail Adams, half sisters Marie (Anton) Steffensmeier of West Point, Bernadine (Edwin) Steck and Rita (Norbert) Gubbels both of Osmond. He is preceded in death brothers Adam, Robert and Herman, half sister Sister Francis Elizabeth Kneuver, and grandson Paul Throener.
