Cecil Bloedorn, 86, of West Point died Friday, April 4, 2014 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Services will be 10:30am Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, with Reverend Christian Meier officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon until 8:00pm Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home, with family receiving friends 5:00 until 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Cecil George Bloedorn was born October 15, 1927 in Wisner to August and Mary (Rhode) Bloedorn. He attended schools at Wisner and served in the United States Army, Second Division Infantry, from July 1946 until September 1947. On May 27, 1948, Cecil married LaVerne Ruth Kahler Kindschuh in Omaha. The couple lived on a farm and Cecil worked at the West Point alfalfa mill, then at IBP for 21 years, retiring in 1990. The couple moved to West Point in the early 1990s. Cecil was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at Wilderness Park and Ponca State Park, and listening to polka music. Survivors include his wife LaVerne of West Point; daughter Shirley Gant of Chanute, KS; sons Robert’Bucky’ (Joyce) Kindschuh and Garrey Kindschuh, both of West Point; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; sons Ronald Kindschuh and Donald Bloedorn; and sister Darlene Andresen. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
