Caroline Augusta Quinn, 98, of West Point, formerly of Oakland, died July 21, 2005 at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland. Services will be 3:00 pm. Sunday at First Lutheran Church In Oakland with Reverend Dr. Mark Eldal officiating. Graveside services will be 5:30 pm. Sunday at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Elk Horn. Visitation will be 9:00 till 8:00 pm. Saturday with family present 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Caroline was born on August 15, 1906 on the Denker family farm south east of Elkhorn in Douglas County to Henry C. and Anna L. Guthardt Denker. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel EvangelicalLutheran Church at Benson. Caroline attended District 48 east of the farm thru the 7th grade when she quit so she could help on the farm and helping her grandmother as seamstress. On October 21, 1925 she marriedJames P. Quinn on her parent’s farm. The couple began farming on the Quinn family farm east of Elkhorn. Following the death of their daughter, Margie Ann, the family moved to Elkhorn where Caroline worked at Cornhusker Hybrid. Following the death of her husband, James, Caroline went to work at Boys Town until her retirement in 1968. She then lived with her mother before moving to Oakland in 1974 to be near her daughter. In December of 2004 she moved in with her daughter on the farm east of West Point. Survivors include her daughter and best friend Rosemary Drieling of West Point, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1963, daughter in 1936, sister Marie Karloff and brother Theodore Denker.
