Blanche Beckenhauer, 97, of West Point died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Scribner. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Chris Meier officiating. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Monday with family present 6:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. A memorial has been established. Blanche Viola Beckenhauer was born March 16, 1914 at Elmore, MN to Henry and Eva (Sherrard) Sommermeyer. She moved to Nebraska. At the age of 7, her family settled in Scribner where Blanche graduatedfrom high school in 1932 , thentaught country school . On September 15, 1940, she married Charles B. Beckenhauer, Jr. in Glenwood, Iowa. The couple lived in Omaha, moving to West Point in the 40’s, where Blanche prepared taxes at Beckenhauer law firm. She attended Midland College to keep up her teaching certificate. Blanche was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active with Chiro Kids, Pollyannas of the Congregational Church of Scribner, Eastern Star, and the Cuming County Historical Society. She enjoyed sports, including the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Red Sox and NASCAR. Survivors include: Daughter:Lynn Wolf of Los Angeles; David (Beth) Wolf; nate and ElliottDarin (Jen) Wolf; marissa and Nicolas. Daughter: Margaret (Gary) Sindelar of West Des Moines, Iowa; Robin Sindelar (Daniel Lowman); Charlie, Cecilia, and Colin; Rachel Sindelar (Bradley Penar); rosie and Annabelle, ryan Sindelar. Daughter: Suzanne (Bud) Yelkin of Walton, NE; joe (Sara) Yelkin; Sammi and EddieJeramy (Audra) Yelkin; charlie, Maya and JaysaJim (Kati) Yelkin; Calvin, Camilla, JoshuaMaren Yelkin Sisters, irene Pick of Arkansas and Jean Chisholm of Fremont; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Paul (Ruth) Beckenhauer of West Point. She was preceded in death by husband, Charlie in 1991, brothers William, Carl and George and sisters, Thelma, Katie and Margaret.
