Bill Bish, 80, of West Point, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at West Point Living Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 am. Friday at Trinity Church in West Point with Reverend Nora Mendyk officiating. A lunch will immediately follow the services. Burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Optimist Club, John Stahl Library or Trinity Church. The family invites those wanting to further toast Bill’s life, to join them at the Vets Pointe beginning at 4:00 pm. Friday for Happy Hour. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bill was born September 8, 1930 at Giltner, to Ervin and Florence Wagner Bish. He was a graduate of Giltner High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 from the University of Nebraskaat Lincoln. Bill served in the US Army from September of 1951 to May of 1953 in Korea. On February 10, 1952, he married Dorothy Florea at Aurora, NE. Bill was employed as a District Soil Conservationist, beginning his career in Blair. He worked in Fullerton for 23 years, and Rushville for eight when, in 1986, the couple moved to West Point and Bill retired in 1992. Bill was a member of Trinity Church, the American Legion and the Optimist Club. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and was known to enjoy a good scotch while telling stories. He and Dorothy traveled to Belize and Alaska and took a Canadian train trip, but his favorite adventure was to watch the Serengeti migration of the animals in Africa. Survivors include his wife Dorothy of West Point, daughters Elizabeth Bish of Gloucester, MA, and Aimee (Mike) Bannister of Papillion, sons Bennett Bish of Arvada, CO and Phillip (Joyce) Bish of Aurora, CO, sisters Pauline Torgerson of Aurora, NE and Bonnie Ives, of Portland, OR, sister in law LaVerne Bish of Lincoln and grandchildren Dana Bish, Leslie Bish and Samantha Bannister. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alvin, Leroy, and Cyril Bish.
