Betty Stieren, 74, of West Point, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild and Christian Mothers Rosary will be 1:30pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Wake Service will be 7:00pm Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9:00am until 5:00pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the church at 6:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Endowments. Betty Ann Aschoff was born January 13, 1940 in West Point to Joseph and Agatha (Guenther) Aschoff. She graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1957 and prior to her marriage worked at First National Bank in Colorado and First National Bank in West Point. On October 17, 1959, Betty married Arthur Stieren at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple farmed and Betty was an active farm wife, raising her family and working as a caregiver for several local families. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, and Christian Mothers, and especially enjoyed gardening. Survivors include her husband Arthur of West Point; sons Kevin (Jean) Stieren, Keith (Lori) Stieren, and Ron Stieren, all of West Point, and Mike (Michelle) Stieren of Scribner; grandchildren Andrea (Chris) Ott, Jenny Stieren, Nicole (Andy) Starman, Alex Stieren, Matt Stieren, Ale’ Stieren, Josh Kaup, Dylan Stieren, and Jaydn Stieren; great-granddaughter Reagan Ott; sister Mary Ellen Ulrich of West Point; and sister-in-law Janice Aschoff of Lincoln.
