Louise E. “Betty” Beckenhauer, 84, of West Point died Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Villa’s in Scribner. Services will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Bruce Schut officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Friday with family present 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Radio Broadcast. Betty was born August 4, 1924 in the St. John’s Parsonage at Lyons to Reverend August and Helene Burmester Lambrecht and was baptized by her father. Following her father’s death, when Betty was a young girl, she moved to West Point. She was a 1942 graduate of West Point High School. On May 3, 1945, Betty married Kenneth Beckenhauer in Kansas. The couple lived in West Point, where Betty, raised a family, and worked with her husband at Beckenhauer Law Office. Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, charter member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, was a Cub Scout, Brownie, Girl Scout and 4-H leader. She participated in Red Cross projects during World War II, and was a member of Young Women’s Club. Betty served on the John Stahl Library Board and on the Library Foundation and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Betty was a wonderful homemaker and seamstress. In August of 2007, Betty moved to the Villas in Scribner. Survivors include sons : Richard Beckenhauer (Zoey St. Germaine) of San Anselmo, CA, Tom Beckenhauer(Marysia Ochej) of Oxnard, CA, James Beckenhauer of Sparks, Nevada, and Martin Beckenhauer of Tahoe, CA, daughters: Ann (George) Wimmer, of West Point, and Mary (Chuck) Petersen of Fremont, NE, sister Ruth (Paul) Beckenhauer of West Point, brother Ben (Gretchen) Lambrechtof St. Joseph, Missouri, sisters-in-law: Laverna Lambrecht and Blanche Beckenhauer both of West Point and Ethel Dorner of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in July of 2005, her parents, brothers August and Luther.
