Berdina L. Wegner, 80, of rural West Point, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the Dodge Cuming County Line with Vicar Jeff Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 6:00 pm. Monday with family present 2 to 4 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church. Berdina was born a triplet on April 1, 1931 in Cuming County, south east of West Point, to J. Herman and Henny Meyer Drieling. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, attended Dist. 46 country school and was a 1949 graduate of West Point Public High School. On April 29, 1959, Berdina married Harold D. Wegner at St. John’s Church. The couple farmed and raised their family on the county line. In later years, Berdina worked at IBP, Hoegemeyer, J. P. Originals, and ran the cucumber station in West Point. Berdina was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and played organ. She was a member and past officer of L. C. W. Berdina will be remembered for her love of family. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, sewing and making quilts and donating them. Survivors include her husband, Harold of West Point, daughter Lori (Keith) Stieren of West Point, sons, LeRoy Wegner of West Point and Loren (Nancy Wordekemper) wegner of Scribner and Lynn (Mary Beth) Wegner of West Point, sister Bernita Terkildsen of Scribner, grandchildren, Lisa, Ashley, and Derek Wegner, Nicole and Alex Stieren, Brooke and Whitney Wegner, great grandchildren Hollie and Hayden Cole. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Bernice Drieling in infancy and LaVerna Benne, and brother Mervin Drieling.
