Barry Bales, 51, of West Point, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Colonial Haven in Beemer. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Graveside services will be 3 pm Wednesday at Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil, NE. Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home with family receiving friends at 6:30pm and Public Wake service at 7:30 pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay For Life or Colonial Haven. Barry Kent Bales was born June 16, 1961 in Fairbury, NE to Cecil and Cecilia (Siegel) Bales. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School near Fairfield in 1980 where he played football and was a four time state wrestling qualifier and three time medalists. Following graduation, Barry attended Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy and served as Glenvil Town Patrol. He worked several other jobs and was an owner/operator truck driver, hauling for Monfort Packing. Barry married Renice Nemec on March 26, 1994. He relocated outside of West Point in 2007 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Constructors Road Construction. Barry never met a stranger. He enjoyed good fellowship, was an avid goose hunter, enjoyed camping and fishing, and serving as a hunting guide. Barry is survived by his father, Cecil Bales of Glenvil, NE; sister Theresa “Teri” (Russell) Hermann of Juniata, NE; nieces and nephews Christina Hermann, Joseph (Lexi) Hermann of Hastings, Ann, Matthew, Patrick and Steven Hermann of Juniata; grandniece Elizabeth Hermann of Hastings; and good friends Loren and Dodie Jahnke. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia Anne Siegel Bales; grandparents, Hubert and Leona Siegel and Ernest and Neva Bales; aunts and uncles.
