Barbara Jean Steffen Nebuda 56, of Ankeny, Iowa formerly of West Point died August 13 as a result of a drowning accident at Saylorville Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am. Thursday, August 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, with burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:00 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Barb is survived by her husband, Dean of Ankeny; son, Court of LaCrosse, WI; siblings, Irvin Steffen of Fremont, Dorothy Gramm, and Jerome Steffen of West Point, numerous nieces and nephews and host of family and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from West Point Central Catholic in 1968. Barb was a loving in-home daycare provider for over 25 years and kept photos and attended events of those children for whom she provided care. She was more recently employed at Encompass Health Management Systems. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a big fan of quarterback Kurt Warner. Barb collected Boyds Bears, crystal figurines, Precious Moments and football memorabilia. Barb enjoyed participating in and watching Autocross Racing. She and her son recently won first place in their division. Memorials been established.
