Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Public Wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the West Point Volunteer Fire Department. August was born April 13, 1931 at Hartington to Frank and Mary Walz Wuestewald and attended school at District #63 near Bancroft. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War. On June 7, 1955, August married Mary Ann Recker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple lived in West Point where Augie worked at Prinz Grain and Feed and Bomgaars. August was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, V. F. W. and was a volunteer fireman for over 30 years. He was a Nebraska Cornhusker football and St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball fan. August had a special devotion to the Rosary. Survivors include wife Mary Ann of West Point, daughters Lori Heller of West Point, Tami (Brian) Hilgenkamp of Arlington, sons Kenneth (Patrice), Kevin (Julia) and Todd (Jen) all of West Point, sisters Wilma (Merlin) recker of Fremont, Cecilia Franzluebbers of Beemer, and Theresa (Vincent) Spenner of Dodge, brother Edward (Gwen) Wuestewald of Fremont, 16 grandchildren Laura (Dustin) Jamison, Nathan Wuestewald, Tyler, Travis, Aaron, and Amy Heller, Christopherand Brent Schueth, Eric (Tasha) Schueth, Alexis, Ryan, Brittany, and Zachary Wuestewald, Nicole (Peter) Kappel, Jacob and Jeremy Wuestewald , 9 great grandchildren, daughters-in law Brenda (David) Kunze of Smithland, IA, and Linda Wuestewald of Omaha. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons David in 2001 and Robert in 2010, brothers Paul and John and sister Betty Recker.
