Arthur’Art’ Kreikemeier, 93, of Dodge, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at Parkview Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 21 at 10:00am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend An Duy Phan as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with Vigil Service at 7:00pm all at St. Wenceslaus. A memorial has been established. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Arthur Joseph Kreikemeier was born on November 24, 1922 to Lawrence and Theresia (Wordekemper) Kreikemeier on the family farm near Snyder. He attended elementary school at St. Leo’s Catholic School and graduated from Snyder High School in 1940. On June 19, 1945 Arthur married Bernice Liekhus at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean. The couple lived on several farms in the Snyder area before purchasing a farm three miles south of Dodge in 1959. In 1983, they semi-retired and moved to Dodge. Arthur was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, and sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Dodge County Cattle Feeders and was on the Federal Land Bank Board for 28 years. Arthur loved to golf at the area courses and the couple enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Arthur is survived by daughters Phyllis (Bob) Sellhorst of Dodge, Linda (Dan) Legband of Omaha, and Joyce (Dan) Keller of Omaha; sons Glen (Rose) Kreikemeier of Dodge and Gary (Becky) Kreikemeier of Bellwood; sister Adana Wieneke of West Point; brother Dennis (Doris) Kreikemeier of West Point; sisters-in-law Eleanor Kreikemeier of Scribner and Alyce Janata of Fremont; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; brother, Leroy; daughter-in-law, Betty; brothers and sisters-in-law Dale and Angie Liekhus, George and Iona Laudenklos, Ray and Arlene Smeal, brothers-in-law Ed Wieneke and Joe Janata, and one great-grandchild.
