Arthur J. Baumert, 76, of Dodge, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Cremation will follow. Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm. Friday and Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Friday both at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Burial will occur at a later date. Memorials may be made to Dodge Rescue or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitaion will be 3:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Friday at the church in Dodge. Art was born January 13, 1933 at Aloys to Bernard and Theresa Peitzmeier Baumert. He attended school at St. Aloysius and Conception, Missouri. Art served in the US Army from 1954-1955. On September 1, 1955, he married Sharon Tresnak at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge. Art worked for Patterson Creamery and Hillside Dairy in Uehling. He then worked his way up to plant engineer at IBP in West Point retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dodge American Legion and VFW and served as the treasurer for the Vet’s Club for many years. He enjoyed socializing over cards, fishing and playing golf. Survivors include his wife Sharon, of Dodge, daughters Vicki (Dr. Tom) Vinton, Laurie (James) Batenhorst, and Renee Kaup all of Omaha and Dawn (Ron) Schmaderer of West Point, son Chris Baumert of Omaha, sisters Elaine Popenhagen of Denver, Colorado and Doris (Lumir) Brester of Lincoln, grandchildren Leah, Aaron andZachary Vinton, luke and Jody Batenhorst, Nathan, Amber, Jill and Alison Schmaderer, Angela, Hannah, Rachel and Mariah Kaup, great grandchildren Ava Schmaderer and Jace Sheppard. He is preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Batenhorst in August of 2003, parents, sisters Darlene Templeton and Sister Angela Baumert and brothers Earl, Lambert and Vincent.
