Anthony “Tony” Carl Aschoff, 74 of West Point died January 29, 2005 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Wake Services with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:30 pm. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Point Catholic Schools, or West Point Rescue. Visitation will be 9:00 am. till 5:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the church until Wake time. Those wishing to leave online condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Stokely Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Anthony was born June 10, 1930 on the family farm west of West Point to Henry A. and Mary Guenther Aschoff. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and graduated in 1948. On August 6, 1957 he married Jo Ann Koke at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Gretna. The couple farmed west of West Point until 1994 when they retired to town. Tony has served as County President and State Treasurer of the Nebraska Rural Youth, President of the Guardian Angels-Central Catholic High School Alumni Assoc., County Chairman and Secretary of the Cuming County Democratic Party, central committee member of Nebraska State Democratic Party, President of the Cuming County Farmers Union and was field representitive for the Farm Crisis Hotline. He currently is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Farmers Union, Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight, District Deputy, and District Deputy. He also was a member of the Nebraska League of Rural Voters and Toast Masters. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann, of West Point, daughters, Cathy(Calvin) Dobias of Atkinson, Frances (Dan) Belling of Fort Collins, CO and Betty (Jeff) English of West Point, sons Carl (Jan) and Cletus both of West Point, Mark (Candy) of Laurel, Paul (Toni) of Pierre, S. D., John (Denise) of Randolph and Alan (Tina) of Hastings, and 20 grandchildren. Tony was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great grandchild in April. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Bernadine Aschoff in 1982.
