Aloysius Henry “Alex” Meiergerd, 83, of Dodge, died Monday at Creighton University Hospital in Omaham.ass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Mark McKercher as celebrant. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Chapel in West Point. Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic in Dodge. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery at Aloys. Visitation will be noon until 8:30 pm. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Alex was born July 26, 1921 on the family farm west of West Point in Cuming County to Edward, Sr. and Anna Praest Meiergerd. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. He farmed with his father until his marriage to Ornitha Doernemann on September 30, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean. The couple farmed and fed cattle north of Dodge, moving into Dodge in 1986. Alex continued to farm until his health would not allow. Alex enjoyed baseball and bowling. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Ornitha, of Dodge, daughters Doreen (Norbert) Vogel of Grand Island and Donna Meiergerd of Lincoln, sons Ronald of Omaha and Kenneth (Lori) of West Point, sister Ludovica (Richard, Sr.) Baumert of West Point, brothers Edward, Jr. of Dodge and Ray of West Point, grandchildren Kimberly Meiergerd, Ryan Vogel, Kevin Vogel and Janet Erives. He is preceded in death by a brother Reverend Godfrey Meiergerd.
