Allyn Francis Konsel, 68, of Dodge, died April 22, 2008 at the Wisner Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Friday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells with Reverend Leo Rigatuso as celebrant. Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm. Thursday and Public Wake will be 7:30 pm. Thursday both at the Church. Visitation will be 2:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. at the Church in Howells. Burial will be at St. Henry’s Cemetery with military honors graveside. Memorials may be made to Nebraska Kidney Foundation or donor’s choice. On line condolences may be left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Allyn was a firecracker baby, being born on the 4th of July, `1939 to John J. and Vlasta Dlouhy Konsel. He was baptized at St. John Nepocumene Catholic Church in Howells and attended District 51 School north of Howells. Allyn graduated from Howells High School in 1957. He was enlisted Army Reserves from 1957 to 1962. On February 27, 1960, he married Ellen Hunke of Pilger at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, rural Howells. The couple lived in the Howells area and worked the family farm. In 1995, they moved to Dodge where Allyn worked at Steffy Transfer, later acquiring ownership. Allyn retired in 2005 dues to ill health. Allyn was a member of St. John Nepocumene Catholic Church where he sang in the choir. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Dodge American Legion. Allyn loved animals of all kinds. He enjoyed playing baseball and cards and bowling. He was a meat and potato kind-of-guy who enjoyed watermelon and ice cream. Survivors include his wife, Ellen, of Dodge, children; Garry of Dodge, Denise (Marty) Telecky of Seward, David (Rose) of Erie, PA, Janene (Brian) Hoffman of Omaha, and Leanne(Rob) Ruskamp of Seward, 11 grandchildren, sister Darlene Pieper of Fremont, brother John F. (Jeanette) Konsel of Howells, mother in law Erma Hunke of Pilger. He is preceded in death by his parents, father in law Gerhold Hunke, brother in law Elmer Pieper and grand nephew Michael Konsel.
