Alieta L. Broekemeier, 86, of Beemer, died February 18, 2010 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church rural Bancroft with Reverend David List officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family receiving friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the wishes of Alieta’s family. Alieta was born January 28, 1924 to Alfred and Emma Leimer Ruehling and raised on the family farm south west of Bancroft. She was baptized, confirmed, and attended school at Zion Lutheran. On March 3, 1946, Alieta married Willie Broekemeier at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed south west of Bancroft. Alieta was an active farm wife, raising chickens, milking cows, working in the fields with her husband and other farm chores. She was an excellent homemaker that enjoyed sewing and teaching her family members to sew. The couple retired to Beemer in June of 2004. Alieta has been a resident of Colonial Haven since January of 2008. Alieta was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aide and sang alto in the choir. In earlier years she served as a 4-H leader. Survivors include her husband, Willie, of Beemer, children Juliann (Richard W.) Haase of West Point, Gary W. (Donna) Broekemeier of Omaha, gladys (Robert) Dahlstedt of Schuyler, and Dennis (Janet) Broekemeier of West Point, grandchildren Michael, Mark, and Monte Haase, Emily Engel, Rachel Aune, Lindsay Broekemeier, Craig and Curtis Jansen, Julie Bruner, Megan Retzlaff and Adam Broekemeier, great grandchildren Ty and Brooke Haase, Lexis, Carter, and Breckyn Haase, Hayden Jansen, Parker and Rowan Jansen, Mitchel and Mackenzie Bruner, and Miranda Retzlaffand sister in law Marcella Ruehling of Bancroft. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Erwin and Alvin.
