Alice M. Stratman, 97, of West Point, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the West Point Living Center in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm Tuesday with Guild, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters Rosary at 1:30 and Public Wake at 7 pm at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Central Catholic Endowment. Alice was born August 11, 1914, at Lindsay, to George and Ann Engelbert Hoegerl. As a young woman, Alice moved to West Point and began working for Dr. Anderson. On November 25, 1941, Alice married Edward Stratman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple farmed north of West Point, retiring in 1980. Alice moved into West Point in 2007. Alice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters, and Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include a son John (Betty) of Omaha, daughter-in-law Sara (Bill) Hough of Columbus, NE, sister Laverna Jennings of Brea, CA, grandchildren Tom (Shelly) Stratman, Doug (Joy) Stratman, Susan (Matt) Henjes, Carin (Corey) Wolf, Kristy (Spencer) Shields, Kim (Travis) Kruse, and Kelsey (Eric) Baumert, granddaughter in law Cindy Stratman, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ed, sons Tom and Jerry, grandson Jeff Stratman, several brothers and sisters.
