Agnes Root, 96, of Norfolk, formerly of Beemer, died Thursday at Golden Living Nursing Home in Norfolk. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Reverend Nora Mendik of Trinity Church officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery at Wayne. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Agnes was born December 1, 1912 at Beemer to John and Agnes Pertranek Holub. She attended public school in Beemer and joined the First Congregational Church in Beemer on April 10, 1955. Agnes married Roy Conn in 1929 and had one daughter. On December 5, 1959, she married William Root. The couple farmed near Randolph for 5 years, moving to Norfolk in 1964 where Agnes resided until her death. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Bev (Joe) Hartz and Joan (Al) Priebnow, grandsons David (Audrey) Smith and Doyle (Kathy) Smith, great grandchildren, Christina, Nathan, and Angie, step great grandchildren Ben, Casey, Emily and Trace and great great grandson Cole. She is preceded in death by her husband William, daughter Geraldeen Smith, granddaughter Donna Barr, her parents and 5 sisters.
