Agatha Holub, 89, of Clarkson, formerly of rural Scribner, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Saturday, February 6 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be from 2:30pm to 7:00pm on Friday with Christian Mothers Rosary at 3:00pm and Vigil Service at 7:00pm all at church. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. Agatha Ann Holub was born on July 3, 1926 to Henry and Anna (Thiele) Venteicher near Pierce. Agatha attended school in Pierce and graduated from St. Joseph’s School. Following graduation, Agatha lived at home for thirteen years helping her mother take care of her father, who was bedfast. Later, she worked several years at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk where she baked and did other dietary work. On April 21, 1956, Agatha married John Andrew Holub at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce. The couple moved onto the Holub farm southeast of Dodge, where she was a hard working farm wife and mother. Agatha and John’Andrew’ have been living at the Golden Living Center in Clarkson since 2010. Agatha was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, altar society, Christian Mothers, and a lifetime member of the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member and past officer of the Dodge VFW Auxiliary Post 8597. Survivors include husband of 59 years John’Andrew’ of Clarkson; children Doris (Ken) Tomasek of Dodge, Mark (Terri) Holub of rural Scribner (Holub farm place), and Jean (Tom) Teply of Clarkson; daughter-in-law Renee Holub of rural Scribner; twelve grandchildren Angela (Sam) Arens of Yankton, SD, Brian (Sheree) Tomasek of Blair, Christopher Tomasek of Lubbock, TX, Kayla Tomasek of Emmetsburg, IA, Jon (Megan) Holub of rural Scribner, Justin (Heather) Holub of Lexington, Paige Holub of rural Scribner, Dallas (Tammy) Teply of Clarkson, Austin Teply of Lincoln, Todd Teply of Norfolk, Maggie Holub of rural Scribner, and Amanda (Matt) Johnson of rural Scribner; three great-grandchildren Sophia Arens, Logan Teply, and Bennett Holub; sister Delores Schlienz of Lincoln; and brother Leo Venteicher of Gretna. Agatha is preceded in death by her parents; son Roger on October 17, 2014; brothers Clem and Anton’Bud’ Venteicher; and sisters Angela Kavadas, Mary Goedde, Rose Woslager, Josephine Arnberger, Christina Zechman, and Monica Venteicher.
