Glenn Ernesti, 61, of West Point died peacefully with family by his side Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Omaha. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Wake Service will be 7:00pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Noon until 8:00pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Glenn Charles Ernesti was born May 14, 1952 in West Point to Ambrose and Kathleen (Miller) Ernesti. He grew up on a farm near Aloys, attended St. Aloysius elementary school, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1970. On May 27, 1972, Glenn married Patricia Newill in Grand Island. Glenn farmed west of West Point near Aloys and moved into West Point in 1993. He worked for Thietje Trenching, State of Nebraska road construction, West Point IBP, as a dairy farming hand, and retired from West Point Implement in March 2013 due to health concerns. Glenn was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, taught CCD, and with Patricia was a coordinator in World Wide Marriage Encounter. He enjoyed motorcycles and hunting, was a member of Valkyrie Motorcycle Club and West Point Saddle Club, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Patricia of West Point; sons David (Stacey) Ernesti of Fremont and Michael Ernesti of West Point; daughters Donna Hammer (Scott Lackas) of Norfolk, Christine (Chad) Howser of Hooper, Stephanie Freyermuth (Rob Yudelson) of Omaha, Suzanne Ernesti of Schuyler, and Andrea (Steve) Daly of Seward; brothers Jeff Ernesti of West Point and Phillip Ernesti of Gretna; sisters Peggy (Cliff) Walker of Cozad, Linda (Jim) Bender of Papillion, Susanne (Randy) Ratliff of Lincoln, Sandy (Steve) Blank of Monrovia, CA, and Sarah (Steve) Rief of Bancroft; grandchildren Mitchell, Nathan, Austin, Alec, Katherine, Joseph, Isaac, Abigail, Libby, Ricky, Brisa, Anthony, and Alyshia; and great-grandchildren Tanner and Jayden.
