Richard “Foxy” Roeber, 76, formerly of West Point, died Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. Funeral Service will be 11:00am on Monday, December 1 at Trinity Church in West Point with Rev. Priscilla Hukki officiating. Lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Richard Roeber was born on October 4, 1949, in West Point to Earl and Mary (Vasicek) Roeber. He grew up in West Point and attended West Point Public High School, where his love of sports took root early. During Little League, he earned the nickname “Foxy” after Nellie Fox, the American League MVP and famed switch hitter. The nickname stayed with him for life. Foxy spent his early years working as a foreman for Lester’s Construction, traveling the country and helping put up buildings. In 1979, he began buying non-ferrous metals and soon grew that small venture into a larger-scale recycling and salvage business that would become a cornerstone of his life for more than 40 years. On October 20, 1973, Foxy married Sue Buchholz. Foxy loved watching his children grow and took great joy in being part of their lives. Foxy cherished his time with his grandkids—especially the many fishing trips. If he heard that one of them was sick, Foxy would arrive with healthy treats and the kind of comfort only a papa could give. Foxy also enjoyed the camaraderie of small-town watering holes, where he made lifelong friends and could always find someone to visit with. Survivors include his children: Son- Shawn (Angela) Roeber of Elkhorn – Josie, Camden, and Isaac Siblings, Don (Cathy) Roeber, Gene (Vicki) Roeber, Ann (JC) Riggan, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Allison Roeber. | |
