Joan Schuetze, 78, formerly of West Point, died Tuesday, April 1, at Arbor Care Center in Valley. Memorial Mass will be 10:30am on Saturday, April 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. James Weeder as celebrant. Lunch will be at the GACC Cafeteria. Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery following the luncheon. Visitation will Friday, April 11 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Endowment. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Joan Elizabeth Schuetze was born on May 9, 1946 in West Point, NE, to Steve and Marie (Kreikemeier) Luebbert. She attended Guardian Angels and Central Catholic Schools graduating in 1964. Joan married Don (Butch) Willnard at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on May 27, 1979. Don died February 24, 2000. Joan was later united in marriage to LeRoy Schuetze on July 20, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Joan’s strong work ethic carried her through 37 years of employment at Wimmer’s Meats where she became foreman of the packaging department. Joan was later employed at the West Point Living Center and with the Helping Hands program through St. Joseph’s Retirement Community. Her sense of humor and love for helping others made her a special friend to many. Joan enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the Casino with LeRoy, was an excellent cook and often the “life of the party.” Survivors include her sister, Arlene (John) Fischer; 3 step-children, Victoria Voss, Ricky Schuetze, Randy (Connie) Schuetze; 7 step-grandchildren, Shailey, Tiffany, Brittany, Kailey and Emily Voss, and Amber (Allen) Sampsell, Jordan Schuetze; sister-in-law, Joan Luebbert; 18 nieces and nephews Joan is preceded by her parents; husbands, Don and LeRoy; brothers, Frank (Barb) Luebbert, Art Luebbert; sisters, Sr. Veronica (Rita Luebbert), Sr. Stephen Marie (Kathryn Luebbert), Mary Ann (Alvin) Kampschneider |
