Donna is the daughter of Edwin Joseph Litz and Mary Ann (Nelson) Litz. She was born on October 25, 1964 in West Point. She attended Snyder Public School and Wayne State College. She worked as a Legal/Administrative Assistant from 1989 to 2017 in both New Jersey and Nebraska and a Financial and Retirement Planning Executive Assistant/Client Service Specialist from 2017 to 2021. She had one son, the love of her life, Richard Edwin Albanese, of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania. She was married to Kenneth Lee Meyer on August 25, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cuming County Line, rural Scribner, by Vicar Jeff Schmitz. Her wedding verse was I am the Vine (John 15:5). She made her home two and a half miles west of West Point until her death. Growing up, she attended St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder where she was baptized on November 1, 1964 by Rev. L.J. Demers, made her first holy communion on April 29, 1973 by Rev. Ronald Battiato and was confirmed on April 24, 1978 by Rev. William J. Hettinger. At Snyder Public School, she participated in volleyball and track. She also painted props and designed play bills for school musicals. She was a member of the Snyderettes 4-H Club and had fun cooking and sewing and helped with fundraisers and parade floats. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Dingmans Ferry and assisted with first communion classes. She was a summer reading program volunteer at the Pike County Public Library. She happily served as a Parent Teacher Association member for a number of years, as well as a chairperson, committee volunteer, vice president, twice-president and twice-council vice president at the Delaware Valley School District, Dingmans Ferry and Milford, Pennsylvania, campuses. She attended leadership workshops and conventions and received numerous participation awards on behalf of those campuses. She gladly served a number of years as a class mom and homeroom volunteer, and at times, she did not even have a child in a class. She had a craft booth at Lafayette Village, in Lafayette, New Jersey, and she sold Lia Sophia jewelry in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Donna enjoyed going into New York City, especially to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade, the Statue of Liberty and the Freedom Tower, formerly the Twin Towers. She continued her education in legal training and seminars in New Jersey and then attended Nebraska County Attorney Association’s legal administrative training in Nebraska. In 2014, she campaigned for Clerk of District Court in Cuming County however remained a Legal Administrative Assistant at the County Attorney’s office until the spring of 2017. She then chose to further her career and began training as a Financial Planning Executive Assistant. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church Cuming County Line and was confirmed on July 8, 2012 by Vicar Jeff Schmitz. Her confirmation verse was Jeremiah 29:11. She served on many committees, including: lay internship, Spanish worship, parade float, altar guild and occasional choir and reader. She also was a representative at Synod Assembly. Further, she served on the Faith Ambassadors Lutheran Parish (FALP) council, sat as the hospitality task force chair, and from time to time, assisted the youth group committee and confirmation class. Donna had a great respect for the Pastors. From time to time, she would tease them to “Have a little faith, Pastor.” “Faith is not about everything turning out ok. Faith is about being ok no matter how things turn out.” Donna was a passionate cook and baker, gardener, event/party planner, artist and crafter. She supported the Nebraska Airboaters Association with fundraising, and in 2016, became a life-time member. She also supported Dodge County Habitat for Humanity with donations/fundraising. She became a TeamMates Mentor at the Logan View School District in the spring of 2018 and was thrilled to be the 6th volunteer in the new program at the school to be matched with a Mentee. She had affection for and collected thousands of elephants. Donna’s mom inspired her to be a good person and volunteer. Most of all, however, she loved the time she spent with her son, saying the proudest day of her life where she couldn’t stop smiling was when she got to “cut the cord” at his birth, and she loved the time she spent with her nieces saying they always told her she was “like the mom they never had.” Her sense of humor brightened many lives.
