Lyle was born on September 11, 1962, to Robert and Diane (Wiese) Hansen in West Point. He married his high school sweetheart Deb Pottebaum on September 26, 1981, and with this union they had two sons, Jeff and Bob. Lyle’s greatest joy was his grandson, Jaxon. Being a mechanic proved to be both a hobby and a job for Lyle as he was often found working on cars. Lyle lived his whole life in West Point and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. For 34 years he served on the West Point Volunteer Fire Department where he was elected Assistant Fire Chief and then Fire Chief . He also was a Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Sportsman’s Club. He loved spending his weekends camping, hunting, and fishing. Going on vacation to Montana was something he always looked forward to. Sitting in his recliner in his shop and watching his dog Chloe chase tree squirrels was both entertaining and relaxing for him. Lyle spent the last two years with an aggressive cancer diagnosis and being on hospice. Having his loving wife as his caretaker helped him to stay positive and not give up.
