Sheryl Beth Wortman was born on October 13, 1961 to Ervin and Margaret (Ortmeier) Wordekemper in West Point. She grew up on the family farm and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and Pebble Valley School before graduating from West Point Central Catholic High School in 1979. She became a licensed cosmetologist in 1980 after attending Joseph’s College of Beauty in Lincoln. On October 3, 1981, Sherri married Robert Wortman at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys. The couple lived in West Point where Sherri operated her hair salon, Hair Care and More, out of their home. After a decade of styling hair, she became the district manager of the Omaha World Herald delivery. Sherri furthered her education with a degree in drafting from Northeast Community College. Using her drafting knowledge, she worked for Advanced Engineering and Broekemeier Showcase. Sherri finished her career at the West Point Dairy.

Sherri was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters where she was currently serving as regent. She was a 4-H leader and member of an Extension Club. She had a knack for all things crafts – including cross-stitching and painting. Time spent with family at the lake was a favorite activity.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughters, Jessica (Brett) Wobken of Seward, Niki Wortman of Seward, and Rachel (Aaron) Prinz of West Point; son, Jon (fiancé Amanda Chamberlain) of Omaha; grandchildren, Mckenzie and Zane Wobken and Henry and Rosalie Prinz; mother, Margaret Wordekemper of West Point; and siblings, Diane (Randy) Dirkschneider of West Point, Nancy Wordekemper of Omaha, Mark (Connie) Wordekemper of Georgetown, TX; Joan (Ralph) Batenhorst of Omaha, Rick (Lori) Wordekemper of Lincoln, Lisa (Glenn) Kee of Omaha, Geri (Bill) Schmidt of Omaha, Ron (Jen) Wordekemper of Houston, TX, and Mike Wordekemper (Tina) of Omaha.
