Norma Wortman, 86, of West Point, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point.  Memorial Mass will be 10:30am on Friday, January 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. Steve Emanuel as celebrant.  The funeral will be live streamed on the Stokely Funeral Home Facebook page at facebook.com/stokelyfuneralhome.  Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm with a vigil service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home.  Family will be present at visitation from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  Masks are recommended at the visitation and funeral and seating will be socially distanced by household.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Norma Jean Brandt was born October 21, 1934 in West Point to Curtis and Anna (Prawitz) Brandt.  She grew up in West Point and graduated from West Point High School in 1952.  Norma married Jerry Wortman and the couple later divorced.  She had many jobs throughout her life including working at the local western store and Grain States Soya.

Norma was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She enjoyed crafting – especially painting and ceramics.  One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to Arizona with friends to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather.  She treasured her family and was enamored by her grandchildren.  Norma’s quick wit and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter Kimberly (Bruce Hansen) Wortman of Green River, WY; son Robert Wortman of rural Wisner; grandchildren Jessica (Brett) Wobken, Niki Wortman, Rachel (Aaron) Prinz, and Jon Wortman (fiancé Amanda Chamberlain); great grandchildren, Mckenzie and Zane Wobken and Henry and Rosalie Prinz; and sister, Joyce (Richard) Medals of Beatrice.  Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald (Mary Clare) Brandt; and daughter-in-law, Sherri Wortman.
