Marcella “Sally” Wordekemper, 82, of West Point, died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.  Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Monday, December 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. Steve Emanuel as celebrant.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria.  Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with a Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers rosary at 1:30pm and a vigil service at 4:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point.  Memorials may be made to Beemer Fire and Rescue, West Point Fire and Rescue, or the American Diabetes Association.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Marcella Clara Toelle was born June 26, 1937 in West Point to Frank Sr. and Clara (Moody) Toelle.  She attended Guardian Angels Catholic School through eighth grade.  On November 13, 1965, Sally married Joe Wordekemper at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  The couple later divorced.

Sally worked as a hired girl at age 14, walked beans for the Steffen brothers, at Village Diner in Beemer for eight years, West Point Cleaners for seven years, Vets Club for 29 years, McDonald’s for six years, and retired in 2012 after working 16 years at West Point Living Center.  Sally was always fond of the West Point police who made sure she got to work on time during inclement weather.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Catholic Daughters, and Cuming County Historical Society.  Sally always had peppermint candies to give out whether you wanted one or not.  Her favorite pastimes included baking and being with family.

Survivors include her sons Jeffry (Sharon) of Indianola and Steven (Jen) of Scribner; daughter Michelle Wordekemper of West Point; grandchildren Miranda (Brandon Bader) Wordekemper and Taylor (Jesse Fezette) Wordekemper; great grandchildren, Sophia Wordekemper and Makenna Fezette; step grandchildren, Ezra (Anna) Schlecht of Lincoln, Marc (Hillary) Schlecht of Elm Creek, Jesse Schlecht of Scribner, and Chelsea (Tim) Stockamp of Scribner; step great-grandson, Easton Schlecht; brother, Vincent “Jimmy” Toelle of Fremont; sisters Marge Kelly of Lincoln, Liz Diers of Fremont, Angie Mandel of Dodge, Rose (Art) Hasemann of West Point, Doris Johnson of Fremont, Joan Anderson of Fremont, and Darlene (Larry) Pabian of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wordekemper and Bernie Oligmueller both of West Point.  special friend, Norman Heese of Scribner; and adopted daughter Toni (Chris) Marr of West Point.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Toelle, Jr. and Dwane Toelle; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
