Leonard Kaup, 93, of West Point, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, at St. Charles, west of West Point. Wake service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point and an hour before the services on Wednesday at the church. Leonard was born July 1, 1917 on the family farm, at St. Charles, Nebraska to Charles and Dora Schiferl Kaup. Leonard spent his life on that farm, homesteaded by his grandfather in the late 1860s. He attended school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School. Leonard farmed the Kaup family farm his whole life. Leonard was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and served as trustee. He belonged to the Holy Name Society, and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed being a handyman and could fix most anything. Survivors include a sister in law, Martha Kaup, of West Point, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father in 1935, mother in 1957, sisters Gertrude Meister, Agnes Potter, Verona Kaup and Angela Riggs, brothers Alfonse, Vincent and Leo Kaup.
