Janice C. “Jan” Harstick, 90, of West Point, died Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point. Memorial Mass will be 10:30am on Monday, October 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Matthias Sule as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm with a Christian Mothers rosary at 5:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the GACC Endowments, Franciscan Healthcare Foundation, or the St. Joseph’s Elder Services Foundation. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.
Janice Catherine Harstick was born on March 3, 1935 to Bernard and Cecilia (Meister) Burger in West Point. She attended St. Leo Catholic Grade School in Snyder and graduated from Snyder Public High School in 1952. On August 22, 1953, Jan married Willard Harstick at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. As an avid bowler, Jan was also a member of both the West Point and Fremont Bowling Associations and earned an induction into the Fremont Bowlers Hall of Fame in 2010. She also belonged to the Oakland Golf Club and several bridge clubs and was proud to help establish the West Point Dolphins Swim Team.
Survivors include her sons Mark (Debbie) of West Point, Jeffrey of West Point, Willard Dean (Cindy) of Columbus, Gregory (Debra) of Lincoln; daughter Susan (Dr. Craig) Jacobus of Fremont; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Tingelhoff.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie; and siblings, James (Amalie) Burger, Joan (Robert “Porky”) Manion, Kenneth (Marie) Burger, and Bernard “Beans” (Elaine) Burger; sister-in-law, Donna (Robert) Uher and brother-in-law, Ted Tingelhoff.
