Helen Kriz, 96 of Snyder, died Saturday April, 14, 2012 at Good Samaritan in Scribner. Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel in West Point. Visitation will be 9 am to 8 pm Monday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery at Dodge. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Helen Marie Kriz was born September 16, 1915 North of Dodge in Cuming County, Nebraska to Joseph Benes and Antonia Vach, the oldest of eight children. On September 26, 1933, she married Rudolph Kriz in West Point and the couple farmed Northwest of Snyder. She worked at Campbell’s Soup in Fremont, Prenzlow’s in Snyder and as a waitress at Adies from 1974 until 2006. Helen was a member of Dodge American Legion Auxiliary. She served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Over 60 Center, was a member of ZCBJ Lodge and was a Gold Star Mother. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering. She is survived by daughter Mavis (Rodney) Lass of Snyder; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother Eddie (Darlene) Benes of Scribner; sisters Adella Birchem of West Point, Lillian Musil of Leigh and Blanche Hake of Leigh. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudolph in 1974; son Donald in 1956; daughter Twila Pekarek in 2004; brothers Frank, Joseph and Jim Benes.
