I remember Gerald like it was yesterday at First National Bank so many years ago. I walked into the bank and opened up my first savings bank account there to deposit my babysitting money and remember his friendliness and patience in explaining to me, as a young girl, how it worked. He was a living testimony to the thought that Nebraska people are willing to go out of their way to help others.

We are sorry for your loss. Your parents used to get raspberries from us before they moved away. I always enjoyed their visits when I would stop by. They were special people and are missed by many. Let your memories bring you smiles, your family and friends give you comfort and God grant you peace. With sincere sympathy, Janis and LeRoy Poppe

We are saddened to learn of Gerald's passing and offer our condolences to Jody and the extended family. He was a very fine gentleman whom we always enjoyed when visiting in West Point, along with his wife with Marlyn (Jackie's cousin). One always could have a very enjoyable conversation with him, learn a lot about many things of his terrific life, including the banking business. He had a great sense of humor that would quickly have you smiling and laughing too. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him.
