Edith Louise Niederhoefer was born January 12, 1922 on the family farm in Cuming County to Louis and Pauline (Luebker) Niederhoefer.  She attended Cuming County District 46 through eighth grade, Burt County District 17, and was a 1939 graduate of Oakland High School.  Edith graduated from Midland College in 1945, attended summer sessions at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Washington-Seattle, then received a Master’s in business education from University of Northern Colorado-Greeley in 1957.

Edith taught for 38 years at schools in Polk, Scribner, Moxee City, IA, Howells, Pilger, West Point, and Omaha, before returning to the family farm in 1983.  Edith and her sister Irene continued raising livestock, taking turns traveling so one of them could always be managing the farm, until they retired in 2005.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; and sister Irene on December 14, 2011.
