Duane E. Humlicek, 76, of Beemer died May 11, 2012 while visiting in Santa Fe, NM. Memorial Services will be 11:30 am Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Stokely Funeral Home with Lewis Miller from Beemer Mennonite Church officiating. Private burial at Mount Hope Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation will be Noon to 7:00 pm with family receiving friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, July 20 at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Duane Edward Humlicek was born April 12, 1936 to Ervin and Zelpha (Wilson) Humlicek in Omaha, NE. He grew up in Iowa and later the family settled in West Point. He was a 1955 graduate of West Point High School and received a Bachelor and Masters degree in analytical chemistry from Arizona State University. On July 12, 1958, he married Jean Hagedorn in Phoenix, AZ. The couple resided in Phoenix where Duane was employed as an analytical chemist by Motorola, retiring in 1998 then moving to Beemer in 2011. Duane was a member of Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ and the Czechoslovakian Collectors Association. His interests included studying Southwest American Indian culture, early Bohemian Glass Industry and traveling. He was very proud of his Czechoslovakian heritage. Memorials may be made to West Point Public School Foundation or Guardian Angels Central Catholic Foundation. Survivors include wife, Jean; and brother in law Thomas Hagedorn of Camp Verde, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
