Daniel Irvin Franzluebbers was born on November 15, 1956 to Herman and Catherine (Ruskamp) Franzluebbers in West Point. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Dodge.
Dan attended Sacred Heart Academy at Olean and graduated from Dodge High School in 1975. Following graduation, he worked as a mechanic for Blankenau Motors in Dodge and later operated the maintainer for Lincoln Township, taking great pride in keeping the roads in good shape.
He farmed his whole life west of West Point, raising hogs and cattle and tending to his crops with the care and dedication that marked everything he did. Dan loved the rhythm of farm life — checking crops, caring for livestock, and enjoying the simple peace of the countryside.
In his free time, he could often be found fishing, taking a drive to look over the fields, or relaxing with an occasional ice-cold beverage. Known to many as “Uncle Dan,” he had a big heart, a quiet sense of humor, and an easygoing spirit that made everyone feel welcome.
Survivors include sisters, Karen (Jim) Hunke of Plymouth Minnesota, Linda (Jerry) Thomsen of Omaha, Marilyn (Glenn) Moberg of Papillion, Doris (Randy) Ortmeier of Dodge, and Diane (Mike) Cech of Fremont; brothers, Allan (Bonnie) of West Point, Duane (Bonnie) of Elkhorn and Glen (Kelly) of Elkhorn; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and aunt, Lillian Franzluebbers. He is preceded in death by his parents.
