Clayton Ray Lofgren was born on September 23, 1935, in Oakland to Wallace and Lola (Swanson) Lofgren.  Clayton attended District 14 country school and graduated from West Point Public High School in 1953. That same year, he began his service in the Air National Guard, where he dedicated eight years to his country. On June 24, 1961, he married Carol Swanson, at the Presbyterian Church in Pender. Together, they built a life centered on family and farming between West Point and Oakland before settling in West Point in 1998.

Clayton and Carol cherished their winters in Arizona, where they enjoyed the warmth of the sun. A true adventurer at heart, Clayton loved traveling and eagerly planned the next excursion. He experienced the splendor of the Grand Canyon on a memorable trip just last year.

A devoted member of his community, Clayton served and held many offices on the Co-op Board, the District 14 School Board, and the township board.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Karen (Alan) Lofgren-Anderson, Kim (Philip) Wieseler, and Gwen (Michael) Saner; grandchildren, Sean Hoefler, Sadie (Cameron) Adams, Chelsi (Kenneth) Tjeerdsma, Noah Wieseler, Parker Wieseler, Samuel (Ashleigh) Saner, and David Saner; great grandchildren, Elliot “Ellie,” Oliver, and Luca Hoefler, Maisie Adams, and Isaiah, Katherine, and Mark Tjeerdsma; brother, James (Phyllis) Lofgren; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lofgren.  Clayton is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Adrian.
