Alice Dirkschneider, 80, of Dodge died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at her home in Dodge. Funeral mass will be 10:00am Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, with Reverend An Duy Phan as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Dodge. Christian Mothers Rosary will be 3:00pm Thursday, Wake Service will be 7:00pm Thursday, and visitation will be 2:00-8:00pm Thursday, all at the church. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Memorial in Dodge or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Alice Ann Brune was born August 8, 1933 in rural Dodge County to Emil and Theresa (Kreikemeier) Brune. She grew up on the family farm, attended Pleasant Valley Country School District #52, and graduated from Dodge High School in 1951. On April 17, 1952, Alice married Francis Dirkschneider at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge. For the 20 years the couple farmed south of Dodge, Alice drove a tractor as she worked the farm. In 1975, they moved into Dodge, where Alice was a homemaker and tended to her family. Alice was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and a former member of Snyder VFW Auxiliary. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, mowing, and being outdoors. Survivors include her husband Francis of Dodge; daughter Patty (Dennis) Nebola of Clarkson; brother Leonard (Norma) Brune of Dodge; sister-in-law Dorothy Brune Kreikemeier of West Point; grandson Eric (Sheila) Nebola of Thornton, CO; and great-grandchildren Haylee and Hunter Nebola.
