Alan Ray Risor, age 80, of Wisner, NE passed away at his home on Monday, January 4.  A celebration of Alan’s life will be held in the spring at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wisner with interment at that time.

Alan was born in Norfolk, NE on March 26, 1940 to Pat and Ruth Martin Risor of Battle Creek, NE and lived there until moving to Seattle, WA where his father was stationed with the Merchant Marines.  The family returned to Battle Creek in 1944 and moved to Wisner in 1946 where the Risor family owned Risor Hardware and later operated Risor Construction.  Alan graduated from Wisner High School in 1957 and began his career working with the family business.  Alan and his crew traveled many miles to complete jobs in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa.  He loved his work while garnering many stories of fun and tricks with co-workers.

On June 6, 1964, Alan and Lynette Gilster Risor were united in marriage at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner.  They were blessed with a son, Craig, and a daughter, Cher, and later those precious grandchildren.

Alan lost a portion of his hearing when he was in third grade from a measles infection.  He received his first hearing aids in 1968 and a cochlear implant in 1994 and continued residential plumbing, heating and air conditioning business until 1997 when he felt it necessary to retire due to health issues.  Alan liked to tell of his pride in son, Craig’s Air Force career and daughter, Cher’s closed captioning skill in providing captioning for deaf and hard of hearing people.  Alan will be remembered for his sense of humor, pride in his completed jobs, his love and knowledge of old cars and pickups and the many stories of fun with co-workers and friends.

Survivors include wife, Lynette, son, Craig and wife, Nancy and their children, Colton and Jillian of Leonardtown, MD and daughter, Cher Frazee and husband, Jeff and son, Noah of Bradenton, FL.  Surviving also are brother, Tom Risor of St. Paul, MN and sister-in-law, Shirley Gilster of Omaha and nieces and nephews.
