Marian Thompson, 102, of West Point, died Friday, May 3, 2019 at Premiere Estates in West Point. Funeral service will be 10:30am on Tuesday, May 7 at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Priscilla Hukki as officiant. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 9:30am to 10:30am before the service at Grace Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Mount Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Marian Ruth Koch was born January 24, 1917 in West Point to Fred and Marie (Schneider) Koch. She graduated from West Point High School in 1934, then worked for Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. On May 14, 1940, Marian married Lester Thompson at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple farmed the Thompson family home place east of town, retiring into West Point in 1976. Marian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Joy Circle, Altar Guild, sang in choir, and served as a Sunday School teacher. She belonged to Extension Club, which was later named 27 Club, and later still became C-U-Friday Club. Marian enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts, cards, square and round dancing, and traveling with Les. Survivors include her son Rodney (Marilyn) of Omaha; daughter Judith Joy (Ron) Schulz of Naperville, IL; grandchildren Blane (Anne) Thompson, Matthew (Kira) Thompson, and Noelle Tepas; great-grandchildren Lillian and Quinn Tepas, Roberto, Niko, and Lucas Thompson, and Hayes and Sydney Thompson. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester on November 28, 1992; and sister Elsie Beard on January 24, 2013.
