Elizabeth’Liz’ Throener, 84, of West Point, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Thursday, December 27 at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey with Fr. Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00pm to 3:30pm with a guild rosary at 1:30pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Cemetery or GACC Endowments. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Elizabeth Theresa Throener was born on February 3, 1934 to Fred and Catherine (Grewe) Ortmeier on the family farm near St. Charles southeast of West Point. The family later moved near Dodge where she attended District 41 School to the 8th grade. Liz then worked as a hired girl for area families and relatives. On October 1, 1957, Liz married Wilbert Throener at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple farmed and raised their family north of Monterey. After Liz had all of her children in school, she began cleaning area businesses and homes including First National Bank for 24 years, Oelker’s and Associates, and Kaup’s Seed and Feed. Liz was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and altar society. She was a 4-H leader from 1969 to 1977. Liz enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and took great pride in her family and faith. Survivors include husband, Wilbert of West Point; children, Karen (Mark) Benne and Duane (Jenny) Throener both of West Point, and Randy (Bethany) Throener of Lincoln; grandchildren, Ruth (Brian) Heller, Steve (Stacy) Benne, Laura (Kirby) Fox, Deana Benne, Alex and Ansley Throener, Jacie (Darrin) Eisenhauer, and Keydan and Kyler Throener; great-grandchildren, Riley and Hailey Heller, Chase and Melanie Fox, and Brielle Benne; brothers, Harold Ortmeier of Blair and Ric(Wanda) Ortmeier of Nickerson; sister, Deana (Alan) Mark ofDenver, CO; and sister-in-law, Jan Ortmeier of Milford, IA and nieces & nephews. Liz is preceded in death by her parents; son, James in 2003; siblings, Henrietta (Rudy) tomka and Cletus Ortmeier; sister-in-law, Betty Ortmeier; niece, Karol Carson; and nephews, Chris Ortmeier and Kent Ortmeier.
