Eldon R.’Bub’ Lofgren, 93, of West Point, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Premier Estates in West Point. Funeral services will be 10:00am on Monday, April 2 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Richard Bringewatt as officiant. Burial with military honors will be at West Side Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with family receiving friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to West Side Cemetery or Cuming County 4-H Foundation. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Eldon was born on April 19, 1924 in West Point to Hilmer and Hilda Gustafson Lofgren. He grew up on the family farm, attended District #14 country school, and was a 1941 West Point High School graduate. He served in the United States Navy from February of 1945 to July of 1946 and was stationed onboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam. OnJune 10, 1947 Eldonmarried Maxine Picha at St. Paul Lutheran church in WestPoint. The couple raised their family while farming east of West Point, residing there the couple’s entire married life until 2011 when Bub moved to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community. Bub had a passion for the Cuming County Fair and the 4-H participation that went with it. He served 40 years as leader to the Four Leaf Clover 4-H club. He also served on the 4-H council and county extension boards, as well as District 33 school board. In 1962, Eldon and Maxine were honored to receive the WOW TV Farm Family of the Week award. Bub enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Eldon was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church, the American Legion and VFW. Survivors include his daughters Marla (Arlen) Gall of Hadar and Gina (Brian) Luebbert of West Point; sons Dale (Carol) and Dan (Linda), both of West Point, and David (Mary Jo) of Elkhorn; daughter-in-law Linda Lofgren of West Point; grandchildren Jeff Lofgren, Chris Lofgren, Cory Schlueter, Julie Johnson, Cody Lofgren, Elizabeth Lofgren, Katie Schmaderer, Shane Lofgren, Jenna Bahns, Hollie Holeka, Emily Thompson, Brent Lofgren, Luke Lofgren, Jared Gall, Kelli Luebbert, MaKenna Lofgren, Mitchell Lofgren, Jacob Luebbert, Nicki Luebbert, and Max Lofgren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; wife Maxine on January 25, 2009; son Dwight on August 23, 1981; sister, Marjorie Popken; and a great-grandchild.
