Dorothy Ann Nebuda, 93 of West Point, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Parkview Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am on Saturday, February 10th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Guild rosary at 1:30 pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy was born on April 29, 1924 to Henry and Anna (Batenhorst) Knobbe on the family farm near Monterey. Dorothy attended St. Boniface Catholic School and she was very proud to earn her GED from Northeast Community College in 1977. She worked at the pharmacy in Dodge before meeting her future spouse of 70 years. On March 31, 1948 Dorothy married Wally Nebuda at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Monterey. The couple farmed northeast of West Point before retiring to West Point in 2006. She worked various jobs including Baumann’s Department Store altering clothes and Creative Notions in West Point. Dorothy and Wally moved to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community in 2016. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Retirement Community, the blood mobile, and singing in the church funeral choir. Dorothy and Wally enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bowling, and listening to polka music. Survivors include her husband Wally; sons Gerald (Connie) and Jim of West Point, Richard’Dick’ (Kathy) of Scribner and Keith of Rolling Meadows, IL; daughters Mary Beth (Tim) Olson of Lincoln and Gina (Ed) Kalous of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Witt of Columbus and Joletta Mejstrik of Norfolk; brothers, Jerry (Theresa) Knobbe and Richard (Marilyn) Knobbe of West Point; sister-in-law Dorothy Knobbe of Dodge. She is preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson Jace Nebuda; sisters, Olivia (Herman) Emanuel, Rita (Charles) Foy, Verena (Norman) Mendlik and LaVern (Richard) Faltin; brothers, Dennis (Viola) Knobbe and Art Knobbe; and brothers-in-law Burnell Witt and Frank Mejstrik.
