Marvin Leffler, 80, of Omaha, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Fountain View Retirement Community in Omaha. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Thursday, November 2 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer with Fr. Joe Wray as celebrant. Lunch will follow in the church basement. Burial with military honors will be at 1:00pm at St. Michael’s Cemetery in West Point. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at with a vigil service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Marvin Anton Leffler was born on October 18, 1937 to Gustave and Marie (Wolken) Leffler in West Point. He attended Guardian Angels School until the 8th grade and began working various jobs to help support the family. Marvin was drafted into the Army in 1956 where he was stationed in Germany. On June 20, 1959, he married Sandra Waugh at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The couple settled in Fremont where Marvin worked at Magnus Metals. In their retirement, Marvin and Sandra opened an antique store called Grandma’s China Closet in Fremont. Marvin was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. He was an avid baseball fan – coaching his sons’ American Legion Baseball teams and playing fast pitch softball. He also enjoyed a round of golf at Whitetail Run near Fremont. Later in life, Marvin could be found attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Survivors include children, Susan (Melvin) Niewohner of Beemer, Dan (Deanne) Leffler and Gary Leffler both of Kearney; grandchildren, Ashley (Wyatt) Jindra, Justin (Laura) Niewohner, Megan, Adam, Shelby, and Morgan Niewohner, Ashley Arehart, Lindsay Wasser, Tyler (Laura) Leffler, and Cory, Victoria, and Kirstyn Leffler; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Vieth of Fremont; brothers, Jim (Priscilla) of Omaha and Harlan (Tammy) of Fremont; sisters-in-law, Doreen Leffler of West Point and Delores Leffler of Fremont; and brother-in-law, Jim Hammond of Fremont. Marvin is preceded in death by his wife; parents; siblings, Donald Leffler, Richard Leffler, and Darlene Hammond; and granddaughter, Kelsey Niewohner
