Marguerite Sucha, 88, of West Point, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 31 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm with a guild rosary at 1:30pm and Vigil Service at 7:00pm all at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to GA or CC Endowments or Hospital Auxiliary. Marguerite Lois Sucha was born on November 9, 1928 to Joseph and Mabel (Moore) Cakl in Clarkson. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1946. After attending Midland College in Fremont, Marguerite was a teacher in Oakland and Omaha. On June 16, 1953, she married Eugene Sucha at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson. The couple lived in Omaha, Lincoln, and Seattle, WA before settling in West Point in 1955. Marguerite was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of the community through her volunteer work at Guardian Angels School and being a Girl Scout leader. During the 1970’s, Marguerite was instrumental in the planning commission. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed camping, gardening, and polka music. Survivors include son, Dr. Dan (Dr. Kay) Sucha of Modesto, CA; dughters, Cathy (Terry) Moore, Jean (John) Vipond, and Mary Donovan all of Omaha; grandchildren, David and Carolyn Sucha, Matthew Moore, and Andrew, Nicholas, and Michael Vipond; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Schneider of North Platte; and brother-in-law John Brester of Howells. Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene in 2000; brothers, Victor (Anne) Cakl and Ray (Tresia) Cakl; and sister, Dorothy Brester.
